All these measures are well established for unweighted networks but have hitherto proven difficult to define for weighted networks. Our approach is based on the translation of a weighted network into an ensemble of edges. Further introducing this approach we demonstrate its advantages by applying the clustering coefficient constructed in this way to two real-world weighted networks. date: 2007 publication: Physical Review E volume: 76 number: 1 publisher: American Physical Society pagerange: 016101 id_number: 10.1103/PhysRevE.76.016101 refereed: TRUE issn: 1539-3755 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevE.76.016101 related_url_url: http://arxiv.org/abs/cond-mat/0604409 citation: Ahnert, Sebastian E. and Garlaschelli, Diego and Fink, Thomas M.A. and Caldarelli, Guido Ensemble approach to the analysis of weighted networks.
