A temperature-dependent probability distribution is assigned for the sand toppling on sites of any height. In mean-field theory criticality is obtained for all the values of temperature and no characteristic avalanche size appears. Numerical simulations support the existence of criticality at any temperature with apparently continuously varying critical exponents. date: 1996 date_type: published publication: EPL (Europhysics Letters) volume: 35 number: 7 publisher: IOPscience pagerange: 481-486 id_number: 10.1209/epl/i1996-00139-0 refereed: TRUE issn: 0295-5075 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1209/epl/i1996-00139-0 citation: Caldarelli, Guido and Maritan, Amos and Vendruscolo, Michele Hot sandpiles.
