abstract: Klaus Wagenbach was one of the must important German editor for the diffusion of the Italian literature in West Germany since the 60s. For this reason he was nominated “cavaliere” of the Italian Republic in 1990. In this essay the Author reconstructs the editorial and cultural activity of the Berlins editor with particular regard for him relations with Italian editors and writers.
