In the present study, the normal contact problem between randomly generated fractal rough surfaces is solved using the boundary element method. Then, an algorithm for the evaluation of the network involved in the percolation of fluid is proposed. Numerical results are synthetically collected in diagrams relating the free volume involved in the percolation to the dimensionless statistical parameters of the rough surface date: 2016 date_type: published event_title: ECCOMAS Congress 2016 VII European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering event_location: Creta, Greece event_dates: June 5-10, 2016 event_type: conference refereed: TRUE book_title: Proceedings of the 7th European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering official_url: https://www.eccomas2016.org/proceedings/pdf/8176.pdf citation: Cinat, Paolo and Paggi, Marco and Borri, Claudia Percolation properties of the free volume generated by two rough surfaces in contact.
