In many cases, though, steady-state operation is not economically optimal and periodic operation of the system yields a better performance. In this technical note, we propose ways of extending the notion of (strict) dissipativity for periodic systems. We prove that optimal P-periodic operation and MPC stability directly follow, similarly to the steady-state case, which can be seen as a special case of the proposed framework. Finally, we illustrate the theoretical results with several simple examples. date: 2017 date_type: published publication: IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control volume: 62 number: 6 publisher: IEEE pagerange: 2943-2949 id_number: doi:10.1109/TAC.2016.2601881 refereed: TRUE issn: 0018-9286 official_url: http://doi.org/10.1109/TAC.2016.2601881 citation: Zanon, Mario and Grune, Lars and Diehl, Moritz Periodic Optimal Control, Dissipativity and MPC.
