After reviewing the basic concepts of MPC, we survey the uncertainty descriptions considered in the MPC literature, and the techniques proposed for robust constraint handling, stability, and performance. The key concept of “closedloop prediction” is discussed at length. The paper concludes with some comments on future research directions. date: 1999 date_type: published series: Lecture Notes in Control and Information Sciences publication: Robustness in Identification and Control volume: 245 publisher: Springer-Verlag pagerange: 207-226 id_number: 10.1007/BFb0109870 refereed: TRUE isbn: 978-1-85233-179-5 book_title: Robustness in Identification and Control editors_name: Garulli, Andrea editors_name: Tesi, Alberto official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/BFb0109870 citation: Bemporad, Alberto and Morari, Manfred Robust model predictive control: a survey.
