First, we prove that the closed form of the state-feedback solution to finite time optimal control based on quadratic or linear norms performance criteria is a time-varying piecewise afine feedback control law. Then, we give an insight into the structure of the optimal state-feedback solution and of the value function. Finally, we briefly describe how the optimal control law can be computed by means of multiparametric programming. date: 2002 date_type: published publication: Hybrid Systems: Computation and Control volume: 2289 publisher: Springer-Verlag pagerange: 105-119 id_number: 10.1007/3-540-45873-5_11 refereed: TRUE isbn: 978-3-540-43321-7 book_title: Hybrid Systems: Computation and Control official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/3-540-45873-5_11 citation: Bemporad, Alberto and Borrelli, Francesco and Morari, Manfred On the optimal control law for linear discrete time hybrid systems.
