TY - UNPB N2 - Negative contrast MRI methods utilizing local magnetic susceptibility shifting (LMS) agents have become an active area of cellular imaging research. However, visualizing and tracking labeled cells on the basis of negative contrast is often plagued by limited specificity and/or sensitivity. Here we report on a cellular MRI method that generates a new contrast with a distinct topology for identifying labeled cells permitting significant improvement in sensitivity and specificity. Specifically, we show that FLAPS MRI [1],MRI can be used to generate fast three-dimensional images of tissue that can be rapidly processed to generate quantitative metrics enabling color overlays indicative of regions containing labeled cells.
